Answer a few questions about yourself, your family, and your assets to create these documents instantly. In states where available, you also have access to sign and notarize your documents online through our video notary feature.
How to Elect Coverage
Eligible Postdoc employees are automatically enrolled in this free benefit starting 9/1/21. If you opt out, you will not have an opportunity to enroll again until open enrollment starts again on 8/15/22.
How to Opt Out of MetLife Legal
MetLaw is free for Postdocs but if you want to opt out, you can do so by logging in to the benefits portal and on your application preferences page, click the opt out button.
How to End Coverage
This benefit is for the 12 months of the plan year (9/1-8/31). If you leave employment, please contact us and we will end the benefit for you.
Taking your Plan with You When You Leave UMass
The legal plan is portable, meaning you can take it with you when your tenure at UMass is complete. The standard portability period is 12 months. Contact MetLife for pricing after you leave employment.
