New Dental Plan Provider & Plan Upgrades

We're excited to announce we've partnered with Ameritas Dental to provide a dental plan that builds on our previous benefit but also allows for many enhancements, including:

  • 100% coverage for 4 cleanings/plan year

  • an increased calendar year maximum of $2250

  • you can use $150 of this maximum toward remaining vision materials costs                                                                           after our EyeMed vision insurance is applied

  • 65% coverage for occlusal guards, like night guards

Why did we change to Ameritas and what does it mean for you?

Wellness Reimbursement Enhancements

  • We have a limited number of prepaid 12 month Daily Burn Subscriptions available on a first-come, first-served basis and we're also allowing a combination of a $95 reimbursement and a 6 month Daily Burn membership.

Child Care Reimbursement Enhancements

The Trust Fund has expanded the definition of eligible childcare for 2020-21 in response to COVID-19. These changes go into effect with fall 2020 receipts (due Jan 2021). Under the revised guidelines, eligible childcare includes:

 

  • state-licensed (or equivalent) infant, toddler, or preschool care in center based and group home-based settings

  • before and after-school care

  • summer camp

  • organizational/center based extracurricular activities (i.e. excludes private lessons)

  • Family, Friends and Neighbor (FFN) informal care when needed by the family ​according to a set of criteria

  • Tutoring, homework assistance and online instructional programming costs for school-aged children

Adjustment to an Earlier Benefit Plan Year

Due to the earlier semester start date this year and to better align our benefit year with the academic calendar in general, the 2020-21 plan year will begin 9/1/20. What does this mean for you?

If you were enrolled for 2019-20 but won't be eligible for 2020-21: your final month of coverage for 2019-20 will still be September, but your dental coverage will be with Ameritas for the period 9/1-9/30/20 and if you choose to extend coverage with COBRA, that dental coverage will also be with Ameritas.

If you are a new grad employee for 2020-21: your earliest possible coverage date is 9/1/20.

If you were enrolled for 2019-20 and will be eligible and enrolled for 2020-21: Plan ahead to use any plan year maximum you had left with MetLife by 8/31/20. Our dental plan will change to Ameritas on 9/1 and you will have a new plan year maximum and a new deductible responsibility.
